Such a very pleasant Monday morning!
When I got out of bed this morning, it was 50 degrees (F). I threw on some flannel pants and my hoodie. If summer was always like this, ... Well, let's just say it's my goal to live in a place where summer is always like this.
I had a lovely weekend. Craig worked out in the garage a little both Saturday and Sunday, so I entertained myself with some fun reading and some quality time with my sewing machine. I tend to sour on sewing when I have a project that goes badly, and as a result I let months go by before I even want to look at my sewing machine again. Then I have days like this weekend where Erik just sings for me and everything comes together as planned, and then I wonder why I don't sew all the time. I repaired one shirt, sewed up the button-up front of a really cute sundress I haven't been able to wear (bustiness and front buttons do not go together!) and performed gender surgery on a t-shirt.
That last project was such a smashing success, that I think I'm going to try and do 1-2 t-shirts a week until I've done all of them. I have a whole stack of really cool printed t-shirts that I just don't wear because they're the typical Hanes generic cut-for-a-man style, and I hate wearing them. I cut the shirt all apart at the seams, sewed the sides up with more curve, took off the excess shoulder, chopped down the sleeves and opened the neck up. Not only does it look much cuter on me, but I no longer feel like I'm swimming in it while it tries to choke me. I can't wait to alter the rest of my collection.
Saturday evening we drove into town for dinner, books (denied!) and coffee, then we stopped by my mom's to hang out there with her and my brother and his girlfriend for a bit. Good times. Sunday night we played Champions of Norrath on the PS2 until bedtime. We also snuck the telescope out on the deck real quick for a glimpse of Venus and Saturn sitting right next to each other. It was a lovely end to a lovely weekend.
Craig and I will be picnicking in BG on Wednesday, weather permitting, to catch the fireworks. If anyone is interested in joining us, let me know and I'll tell you where you can find us.
I'm very excited about this -two days of work, holiday, two days of work, weekend- thing.
The weather so mild that it feels like autumn, which means my brain is in school mode - perfect for technical writing.
Fabulous morning!
