Monday was a looooooong but really decent day
I love my new haircut so far. She took about 6-8 inches off (it's still a few inches below shoulder length) and layered the heck out of it, which gave me the volume and messiness I was wanting. She did put a lot of product in it though, and blew it dry (albeit with a diffuser and very gently), so I'm waiting for it to dry right now after washing that sticky mess out before giving it an official thumbs up or down. It might take me a couple days to figure out how to work with it, but I think it's going to be a good cut.
She wouldn't let me pay for it again. She gushes over how much I helped her get her business in order and refuses to take my money now. It's awesome to have my efforts recognized like that, especially since that was such a stressful situation, but it's a bit uncomfortable for me when she won't let me pay her still after all these years. She wants me to stop by later this week when I've touched up the henna so she can see it, and I'm going to sneak her a big gift card to the Panera just a few doors down from her shop.
Carving class was a lot of fun in a art project sort of way.
Things I loved about my carving class:
- Learning the most effective way to use the tools
- Learning how to easily keep everything sharp
- The chance to sit and work on something for a few hours to gain confidence
1. "There are no rules, you can do it however you want. ... This is how you make a nose and this is how you make an eye and this is how..."
2. I felt a bit like I had to hide what I was doing, because if I wasn't doing it the way the instructor would, she felt like she had to step in and show me.
3. The project itself: a hippie-era looking "shelf-elf", a bearded, squinty-eyed, bulbous-nosed creepy looking gnome thing. *shudders*
I can't wait to carve a few things *I* want to carve now. I did really enjoy the actual act of carving. It's very soothing and meditative. The class was very worthwhile and enjoyable.
After class I busted Craig out of work an hour early and we caught a matinée of Iron Man. I *LOVED* it! Tony Stark is my kind of super-hero: a cocky, intelligent, irreverent, adrenaline junkie! No whiny, hormone-confused teenagers bit by a stupid spider, or a broody, PTSD, bat-fearing, never emotionally matured men. That was a fun movie. The scene at the end of the credits was well worth hanging around for too! :D
After the movie we went out for a bit of dinner. I didn't get back home until almost 9pm. Long, but good day.
Today will be a much needed quiet day of catching up on chores and work. ...and still waiting for my glass order.
OH! And Craig got our Wii networked with the access point he brought home from work, so it just doesn't like our LinkSys and we can physically plug it in to our ethernet and be done with it. He's bringing home the accessories to do that tonight. Anyone want to share Wii numbers? Bats eyes at Bephanie. :)
