Mark this day. The end is nigh.
I just want it to be known that I went to a book store today with the intent of buying a book, any one of the ...oh, top 40-50 on my reading list, and Books-A-Million didn't have a single thing that appealed to me enough to make me want to part with my cash. Nothing.
I don't think I've ever left a book store without wishing I could've rescued at least three books more than what I could afford.
Today I really tried to drop some money there and failed.
I miss Thackeray's Books. I don't know who the genius was who was responsible for stocking that charming little bookstore all the years I shopped there, but in a tiny fraction of Books-A-Million's or even Barnes & Noble's floor space, every time I went to Thackeray's I discovered at least a dozen awesome books I felt I absolutely must own ASAP! These days I go shopping at the big box bookstores with a wishlist of several dozen books and come away empty-handed?
Those mega book-stores killed my favorite local shop, and today I have no new book. *hate*
